Free synastry
Calculate your synastry.
Your two births: both charts and every contact between them, free and without an account.
What the report adds
Here, each contact is read on its own. The report reads them together, for your bond: what draws you close, what rubs, and how each one sheds light on the other.

Order the reportWhat a synastry is
A synastry puts two people side by side through their birth charts. A birth chart is the map of the sky at the moment and place someone was born: where the Sun, the Moon and the planets stood. The two charts are laid one over the other, and we look at how the bodies of one fall against those of the other. What comes out are your contacts: where you meet, where you rub, where one stirs something in the other.
A contact
There is a contact when a body in one chart sits at a precise angle from a body in the other: in the same place, or 60°, 90°, 120° or 180° away. One person’s taste for connection (their Venus) 120° from the other’s drive (their Mars), for example, is a contact.
The orb
An angle is rarely exact. The orb is the gap, in degrees, between the actual position and the exact angle. The smaller it is, the more the contact weighs: that is why your contacts are listed from tightest to widest. Beyond a limit, there is no contact: 6° for a conjunction or an opposition, 5° for a square or a trine, 4° for a sextile, 1° more when the Sun or the Moon is involved, and less for Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
The calculation
Positions are calculated with Swiss Ephemeris, the ephemeris published by Astrodienst, in the tropical zodiac, where Aries begins at the spring equinox. The birthplace is chosen from GeoNames, a public database of the world’s towns: it gives the coordinates and the time zone, with the daylight saving time in force that day. It is the same calculation as the report’s.
Reading a contact
A contact is read in two steps: what each body says about the person, then the angle between them. The angle sets the tone.
Conjunction · 0°
The two bodies are in the same place: what they say about each of you blends, to the point of being hard to tell apart.
Sextile · 60°
A possible cooperation, which needs to be taken up to happen.
Square · 90°
A tension between your two ways of doing things, which calls for a conscious adjustment.
Trine · 120°
An easy flow, which can become so automatic that it goes unnoticed.
Opposition · 180°
Two poles facing each other, which ask to be held together rather than choosing one.
Personal bodies first
Start with the contacts that touch how you experience yourself (the Sun), emotional needs (the Moon), how you speak (Mercury), affection (Venus) and drive (Mars). They move fast and are your own. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto move so slowly that they sit in almost the same place for a whole generation: a contact between two of them speaks of your generation more than of your bond.
In your bond
The same contact is not lived the same way in love, in friendship or at work. Here, each contact is told on its own; the report reads it for your bond, which you choose when you order. No contact becomes a score: there is no compatibility rating.
Without a birth time
You rarely know the other person’s birth time, and sometimes not your own. The calculation works anyway: the chart is then calculated for noon, local time at the birthplace.
Without a time, there are no houses and no angles. The houses divide the sky into twelve areas of life, and the angles, including the Ascendant (the point of the zodiac rising in the east at the moment of birth), turn with the hour. The contacts that depend on them are left out, and this is said under the result, for each person concerned.
The planets move little in a day, and their contacts are still calculated. The Moon goes faster: at noon it can be up to 8° from its actual place, and it changes sign during the day more than four days in ten.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. Both your charts, every contact between them, its orb and the sentence that goes with each one are free, with no account. The report is paid.
What happens to what I enter?
As long as there is no account, your chart stays on this device. An account is only asked for when you add a relationship.
How is it different from the report?
Here, each contact is told on its own, in a sentence built from the two bodies and the angle. The report, a PDF, is written for the two of you: it reads your contacts together, for your bond, and each chapter says which contacts it rests on. The facts are the same: same calculation, same list of contacts, from tightest to widest.
